Italian Curriculum

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ offre un percorso formativo conforme alle Indicazioni MIUR per l’educazione primaria.

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ offers a primary education programme that follows the Italian national curriculum guidelines.
Our mission is to provide every student with a high-quality education. Our primary school has paritaria status, meaning it is officially recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIM).
Our programme provides a well-rounded education across both the British and Italian systems, with a strong foundation in academic subjects and languages.
We believe that a strong foundation in Italian helps students move confidently between national and international school systems. This gives them the flexibility to continue their education wherever they choose in the world.

Our highly qualified Italian teaching team consists of dedicated, experienced teachers who are native Italian speakers. Through a personalised approach, we meet each student’s individual needs and create a stimulating and engaging learning environment. As an officially recognised school, we promote an inclusive environment where diversity is valued and respected. We believe that different perspectives and cultural backgrounds enrich our community and help our students become thoughtful, open-minded citizens in an increasingly global world. We nurture the skills our students need to grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Italian Curriculum

The Italian curriculum is organised into two primary stages, preceded by a preparatory year, as outlined below.

Preparatory Year (Year 1)

This programme prepares children for the first year of Italian primary school. Students have four hours of lessons per week, focusing on early writing skills and an introduction to the letters of the alphabet.

First Stage of Primary School (Years 2 and 3)

Years 2 and 3 correspond to the first and second years of Italian primary school. Students have five hours of lessons per week: four dedicated to language skills and one to logical thinking and mathematics.

Second Stage of Primary School (Years 4, 5 and 6)

Years 4, 5 and 6 correspond to the third, fourth and fifth years of Italian primary school. Students have six hours of lessons per week: four dedicated to language and humanities, and two to maths and mathematics.

Officially Recognised Italian Lower Secondary School (Years 7, 8 and 9)

Years 7, 8 and 9 correspond to the first, second and third years of Italian lower secondary school. The Italian programme accounts for approximately 30% of annual teaching hours and includes Italian literature and grammar, mathematics, history, citizenship education and physical education.

Students also study Spanish as their third language.
